Collection and conservation of coconut genetic resources at PCA-ALBAY RESEARCH CENTER

 

Various coconut varieties were field planted including 125 Tacunan Dwarf (TAC) in Lot D and 185 SynVar in Lot I. For other varieties for field planting seedlings in the nursery are already available for planting including 1,328 SynVar, 70 Galas Tall (GAL), 104 Coconiño (CÑO), 32 Kinabalan Tall(KINT) and 64 Pilipog Dwarf(PILD)

In terms of field maintenance and nut production, 195 hills of recently planted coconuts were ring weeded and all diseased or damaged trees in Lots D, I, H, J, K and L were cut. Young tender coconut (buko) was served too various clients and guests of the Center totaling 355.

,820 seedlings and 19,872 seed nuts were made available to farmers. Of these, 19,363 seed nuts and 1,629 seedlings were sold.
