TIWI Techno Pinoy Center Launched

             In its continuous aim of fast tracking the coordination of all technology promotion and commercialization activities in the region, the Bicol Consortium for Agriculture and Resources Research and Development (BCARRD) Regional Technology Promotion (RTP) in coordination with PCARRD and the Local Government of Tiwi, Albay, launched the first FITS Center in the province of Albay on March 15, 2005. 

             The launching of the Tiwi FITS Center started with the ribbon-cutting ceremonies with Municipal Mayor Jaime C. Villanueva, Municipal Agriculture Officer Mr. Senando V. Arizapa and Dr. Susana C. Cabredo, BCARRD RRDCC Chairperson and BU President.  In his welcome address, Mayor Villanueva expressed his thanks to PCARRD, BCARRD and the Municipal Agriculture Office for their effort of serving the farmers through the establishment of the FITS Center.  He said that everything in the center is not for display purposes but are bound to be used by the farmers.  Dr. Cabredo also inspired the participants with her short message.  She said that Tiwi will put its own mark in the BCARRD history as first FITS Center established in Albay for the 29 years of the existence of BCARRD.  Prof. Grace B. Brizuela, RTP Coordinator also gave a brief overview of the Technogabay Program particularly about the FITS Center and the services it offers.

             The activity was participated by the LGU-Tiwi, Municipal Agriculture Office, BCARRD, farmers and students.  The Memorandum of Agreement was  signed by Dr. Cabredo, Mayor Villanueva and Mr. Arizapa with the farmers serving as witnesses.
